The engine assembly conveyor line is one of the main equipment to complete the assembly of the engine assembly. Due to the different structural characteristics and production programs of the engine, the form of the assembly conveyor line used is also different.

In addition to the free roller assembly line, the above-mentioned assembly lines are all forced flow (continuous or intermittent) assembly lines, that is, the assembly line operates continuously or intermittently at a certain speed.
With the development of automobile industry, in the late 20th century, flexible engine assembly lines were widely used in engine manufacturing plants. The flexible assembly line creates conditions for the change of production program, the production of multiple varieties on the same line, the use of special and automatic assembly equipment, and the improvement of product assembly quality.
There are several types of flexible engine assembly lines in China:
① Vertical single roller bar type.
② Power friction roller table type.
③ Double chain roller type.
The fundamental difference between the flexible assembly line and the forced assembly line is that the assembly objects carried on the flexible assembly line can run together (synchronously) with the assembly line to transport the assembly objects from one assembly station to the next; It can also not run synchronously with the assembly line. When the assembly object is transported to an assembly station, it will be automatically or manually stopped at the assembly station. At this time, the assembly line continues to run forward. After the assembly workers complete the assembly work at this station, the assembly object will run synchronously with the assembly line to the next station until the assembly work of automobile products is completed.
Based on this feature, this kind of flexible line is also called asynchronous assembly line. At the same time, the forced assembly line that runs continuously or intermittently (synchronously) with the assembly line is also called the synchronous assembly line. Another major difference is that the distance between the assembly stations on the flexible assembly line is relatively large, and the stations have a certain ability to store assembly objects. Therefore, in the multi variety collinear assembly, it has a certain adjustment function for the difference in labor volume at each assembly station due to the structural difference of multiple varieties of products, And the production capacity of the assembly line can be adjusted by reducing or increasing the storage between the stations to increase or reduce the assembly stations.
